How to keep your new born healthy?

A mother knows what her child needs but it may not be just enough. There are always times when an expert advice or professional help is needed. One of such requirements is when it comes to child health. New born and infants need special care and attention when it comes to health. They aren’t as immune as the grown ups are and hence have high probability to catch diseases. Thus, it is important that first-time parents or any parents with new born know well about taking good care of their child’s health.

One of the very first thing to do after child birth is to have regular check-ups. Regular doctor visits are a must for a child in order to make sure that your child is healthy. Preventive shots are the very another important aspect of child health care. Some of the many immunizations that your child requires are polio, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, measles. They are the very first and the very common. The Polio shots shouldbe given at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months and 4 to 6 years. The Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis shots are required to be given at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 15 months and 4 to 6 years. Similarly, the Measles-Mumps Rubella should eb given at 12 to 15 months or either 4 to 6 years or 11 to 12 years.

Other vaccinations include Hemophiliacs influenza, Hepatitis A, B, Chickenpox etc. The period of vaccination differs depending on the vaccine type and could be eadily figured out with the consultation with your doctor. It is important that the parents keep an official immunization card to keep track of the child’s immunization. Also, if the child has any reaction to any shots, the doctor or the Health care provider must be reported immediately.

Along with the medical attention, the diet and food habits of the child should also be taken well care of. It is natural for children to love sweets and hate vegetables but a balance diet must be provided as early as possible. Cleanliness and exercise is an essential part of child health. It is important for a kid to be active, physically and mentally in order for him/her to grow healthy. Taking growth record of the child is equally important. The weight, height and head size(first 2 years of life) must be measured regularly. Blood pressure of the child should also be measured, starting at around 3 years of age because high or low blood pressure is a serious issue in a child. Such measurement will be kept by the child’s doctor or care provider.

It is important to remember that child health care is better when paid attention at the earliest: as soon as the mother is pregnant. Regular tests, nutritious diet and plenty of mental and physical activities is a must for a child to grow healthy.
